Matthew 7:13-14

Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in through it. Because narrow is the gate and straight is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. ~ Matthew 7:13-14

Marketplace AD 29 VBS at Calvary Chapel Las Cruces

DCM just completed an amazing week of VBS at Calvary Chapel in Las Cruces. It was Marketplace AD 29, a Bible Times VBS that had us all back in the first century viewing the world as the disciples of Jesus would have seen it. The marketplace was all decked out with a real pond and fountain, a pottery tent, baking and craft stalls. They even painted one wall with an incredible mural depicting a first century village in Israel! It was so incredibly beautiful. All day there was singing and dancing in the marketplace. The 1st century baked goods and snacks kept us all going. Our Roman centurion and his cohort, Zaccheus the tax collector kept the children and adults digging deep in their money pouches to get out of jail - but in the end they were saved and repented for their greed. Pastor Jeff played the part of the High Priest throughout the week and Pastor Bob had a part in the daily drama - he played the part of the dad of the Man Born Blind. Everybody looked so nice in their costumes and 1st century finery! Dennis, as Jesus, was in the Marketplace all day long telling stories to the children right from the Bible. It was so amazing to see them all gather to sit around him for another story. They also played games like Driedle and others from the first century time period. The kids learned all about the Beatitudes from their teachers and Wendy and Stephanie taught songs and Hebrew dancing to all the children and the adults too. Everybody agreed by the end of the week that there just isn't anything more fun or rewarding than VBS 1st century style and were truly sorry to see it end and have to say goodbye. Thanks Calvary Las Cruces for inviting DCM to be a part of your circle of fellowship. We truly appreciate all of you and the happiness you filled our lives with as we shared in ministry with you! We know that this is a week that all of us will remember and treasure all of our lives and that the children who came will always know that Jesus loves them and that there truly is a God in Heaven who is watching over them. They know because God's spirit was present in the lives of all the adults who served so lovingly and faithfully. Marketplace AD 29 at Calvary Chapel in Las Cruces was truly the happiest place on earth! Click on this link to view pictures of this wonderful week
